Local business website accuracy checklist
A local website should help a customer answer three questions quickly: what the business does, where it genuinely serves, and how to take the next step. Use this worksheet to keep those answers consistent without inventing offices, locations, reviews or rankings.
Business identity record
Create one approved record, then compare the website, invoices, social profiles and any eligible business listings against it.
| Field | Approved public information | Last verified |
|---|---|---|
| Business name | ||
| Primary phone and email | ||
| Customer-facing address, if eligible | ||
| Real service areas | ||
| Hours and response expectations | ||
| Primary customer action | Call, request a quote, book, visit or purchase |
Website checks for a local service business
Should this business create a Google Business Profile?
Check eligibility before creating or claiming a profile. A storefront should represent a real customer-facing location. A service-area business may be eligible when it travels to customers, but should use one accurate profile for its central location and hide a residential address when customers are not served there.
Google says service areas should be specific and accurate, can be entered as cities, postal codes or other areas, and should generally stay within about two hours of the business base. The product currently allows up to 20 service areas.
Before adding LocalBusiness structured data
Structured data should describe visible, truthful business information. Google's documentation requires a name and physical address for LocalBusiness rich-result eligibility and recommends details such as a working location URL and primary phone. Syntax validation does not establish that a page will receive a rich result.
Do not add a fake storefront, fabricated ratings or an address that customers cannot visit. If the business model does not fit the supported type, clear organization and service information in visible HTML is more useful than forcing unsupported claims into schema.
Keep a change record
| Date | Page or listing | Change | Source or approver | Next review |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Review after a move, phone change, new service area, ownership change, seasonal schedule or website redesign. Test the customer path after every update.
