A Harbour & Main product
Customs intelligence without the scavenger hunt.
Too much Canadian customs information is scattered across D Memoranda, CARM updates, tariff guidance, AMPS changes, notices and policy updates. BorderStar monitors those sources, explains what actually changed, and tells you what needs attention.

Live product at borderstar.ca. Access is invite-only while it is gated. Built for Canadian customs brokers, importers, freight forwarders and trade-compliance teams.
BorderStar is an independent product by Harbour & Main. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) or any government agency.
Who it is for
- Customs brokers
- Importers and freight forwarders
- Trade-compliance teams
The problem
Material changes arrive from everywhere at once: D Memoranda, CARM releases, Customs Notices, AMPS penalties, tariff and HS-classification guidance, ACROSS and release instructions. Miss one and a client file is wrong. Reading all of it is a full-time job nobody has.
What it covers
- Official-source monitoring: CARM, D Memoranda, Customs Notices, AMPS, tariff/HS material, ACROSS and release guidance
- Answers grounded in the source material, with citations and freshness shown
- Alerts when material guidance changes, not a daily digest to wade through
- Deterministic lookups for exact tariff and AMPS identifiers, explanation on top
- PARS/release shipment queue with approvals, readiness checks and audit history
- Live carrier status checks through BorderConnect RNS/PARS, per workspace
- Document intake for PDFs, spreadsheets, scans and images, with field extraction
- Trade opportunity work: counter-tariff item checks, remission pre-screening, surtax monitoring
- Brokerage workspaces, so one firm's material never lands in another firm's view
What it will not do: file a customs declaration on its own. Filing stays behind explicit human approval until an authorized brokerage provider is configured and proven.
How it works
- 1
Watch the official sources
D Memoranda, Customs Notices, CARM and AMPS updates, tariff material and release guidance, tracked for changes.
- 2
Explain what changed
Each change comes with a plain-language summary, the source it came from, and how fresh that source is.
- 3
Tell you what needs attention
Alerts when guidance is material, so a broker can act before a file goes wrong, not after.
Status, honestly
The app is built and running with an official-source corpus that refreshes regularly. Current source availability and freshness are shown inside the application, where they can be reported from the live system rather than frozen into this marketing page.
Two limits stated plainly: access is invite-only while this preview is gated, and AI-written explanations are not switched on yet. What a visitor gets is lookup over the indexed official sources with the source page attached.
If that is useful to you, ask for access below and try a question you would normally spend an afternoon on. If it falls short, tell us what it should have known. Broker feedback is the point of this stage.
Open the live app Send feedback
Access is issued by invite while the preview is gated, so this form puts you on the list rather than opening the app instantly. Nothing here is a mailing list: we use these details to talk about BorderStar, and nothing is sent to anyone automatically.
